A Pittsburgh Tradition since 1959
Pittsburghers have loved Rudy’s Subs since Rudy Martino made his first Rudy’s cheesesteak in 1959. This iconic Pittsburgh restaurant has been in operation since and has attracted customers who love the fresh taste of a signature Rudy’s Sub!
Rudy’s Subs goes back to 1959 when Rudy Martino opened Rudy’s Martino’s Original House of Submarines in Swissville, PA. Rudy took the freshest local ingredients he could find and created the signature Rudy’s Cheesesteak Sub. Although Rudy had a limited menu when he started in 1959, he knew that the Rudy’s Sub would become a legend.
In 1961, Joe and Nick Bonacci partnered with Rudy and expanded the operation when they opened the Monroeville Rudy’s Subs location. Then in 1982, Andy Sebastian joined up with Joe and Nick to open the Plum/Rt 286 Rudy’s Subs. Over 50 years later, these original restaurants are still in operation and still serving up the legendary Rudy’s Italian and Rudy’s Cheesesteak subs to their fans in Pittsburgh. The menu has expanded over the years, but the unique flavor and quality of a fresh Rudy’s Subs has been a Pittsburgh tradition for over 50 years.
Until now, Rudy’s has been based primarily in the east hills of Pittsburgh with locations in Monroeville, Plum/Rt 286, Braddock Hills and Swissvale. For years Pittsburghers from all over have been flocking to these locations for the Rudy’s experience. For the first time in their history Rudy’s Subs has opened a location in the South Hills of Pittsburgh at Donaldson’s Crossroads in Peters Township..
Come see for your self what Pittsburghers from the East Hills have been enjoying for generations. We know you will love the Rudy’s Sub experience. The South Hills location is now open and serving up legendary Rudy’s Subs.
